Dorothy Marie Robey, 89, passed away from Covid-19 on January 24, 2021 at Kingston Commons Nursing Home. She was born in 1931 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania to Bernard Splett and Cecelia Bonaventure Hozlock.
Dorothy, a graduate of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, was a registered nurse who was much loved by her patients. Nurses of her day wore white uniforms, white stockings, freshly polished shoes and a white starched cap. Her eldest daughter recalls, “she looked like an angel as she went off to work.”
Nurse Dottie was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Paul Robey II. She was also predeceased by her older sister, Bernadine Splett, who died of pneumonia before the age of three.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Cheri Ozorak, Charmagne Bagley, Leonard Robey III, Dorothy Genelow, and stepdaughter, Paula Harnish; four grandchildren, Maria, Michael, Alexandra, and Floryan; and three great-grandchildren, Colton, Samantha, and Ella. In addition to many nieces and nephews, Dorothy is also survived by two siblings, Thomas Splett and Sandra Kliamovich, who both reside in Florida.
Prior to attending nursing school, Dorothy lived on Tilbury Terrace in Nanticoke. There she found her talents as a pianist and beautiful vocalist, harmonizing with her Aunt Irene in true Andrew Sisters style. She also shared her mother's joy for gardening, with white gardenias being among her favorite flowers. Dorothy will be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral arrangements are private due to the current pandemic. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Arrangements were entrusted to the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth. |
