Elre O. Chacke, age 97, of Plymouth passed away peacefully into eternal rest, on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Geisinger South Wilkes Barre.

Born August 1, 1928 in Swindon, England, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lewis and Olivette Franklin Lewis. She was a member of All Saints Parish, Plymouth. Prior to retirement, Elre was employed by Lord and Taylor and prior to this she worked for American Tobacco, the Golden Quality Ice Cream and Kmart Corp.

Elre deeply loved her home and cherished her family above all else. She was a kindhearted and gracious woman whose gentle spirit touched everyone around her. In her younger years, she found joy in singing with the church choir. She enjoyed crocheting, painting, and creating artwork on her iPad. Christmas was her favorite time of year, when she delighted in preparing family dinners and baking for her loved ones. She also adored her beloved cat, Puddy, who was always by her side.

In addition to her parents, Elre was preceded in death by her husband Joseph S. Chacke who passed away in October, 1985, and her sister, Marcia Lewis.

Surviving are her loving children, Marcia Maransky (Thomas), Hunlock Creek, Arlene Gillespie, Hunlock Creek, Ann James (Peter), Plymouth, Donna Karlowicz (Bernard), Hunlock Creek, Joseph Chacke Jr. (Lydia), Plymouth, Stanley Chacke (Diane), Ashley, Elre Long (Richard), Shavertown, Lorraine Shaw (Thomas), Hanover Twp. and David Chacke (Doreen), Plymouth; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. Elre is also survived by relatives in England and her dear sweet pet cat, Puddy.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at the S. J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth. Private interment will be in St. Mary’s Nativity Cemetery, Plymouth Twp.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until funeral service time at the funeral home.
