Joseph C. Butkiewicz, age 88, of Wilkes Barre, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Allied Meade Street Skilled Nursing, Wilkes Barre.

Born February 13, 1937 in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Joseph Butkiewicz and Elizabeth Novak Butkiewicz. Joseph was a graduate of Meyer’s High School, Class of 1955, and was a veteran serving with the United States Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion and the Irem Temple.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper from 1961 until 1991.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Elieen Brooks and Jean Butkiewicz.

Surviving are his loving wife, Mildred Kindred Butkiewicz; son, Joseph G. Butkiewicz (Paige), Plymouth; daughter, Melissa Butkiewicz, Nanticoke; grandchildren, Paul Butkiewicz, Plymouth, Rachael Butkiewicz, New Jersey, Olivia Butkiewicz, Kingston, Samantha Natt, Kingston, and Shane Turner, Nanticoke; great grandchildren, Colin and Logan; brothers and sisters, Edward butkiewicz, Maryland, Joanie Yale, orange, Pa, Betty Ann Steiner, Bethlehem, Pa, and Jim Butkiewicz, Florida.

Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth.
