Mary Teresa Ropietski, age 70, of Hanover Twp., passed into the hands of the Lord on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the Wilkes Barre General Hospital.
Born October 3, 1954 in Wilkes Barre, she was the daughter of the late Benedict Yatko and Florence Brekoski Yatko. Mary Teresa was a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, Wilkes Barre, Class of 1972, and a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Wilkes Barre.
Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Hanover Area School District as a food service worker. Prior to this, she was employed at McCrory’s in Wilkes Barre in the restaurant.
Mary Teresa loved playing bingo and most of all she love to spend time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Yatko.
Mary Teresa and her husband, Thomas, would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on September 30th.
Surviving are her loving husband Thomas Ropietski; daughter, Jennifer Cardamone and her husband, Gary; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Cardamone and Ava Cardamone; brothers and sisters, Benedict Yatko (Deborah), Hanover Twp., John Yatko, Ohio, and Barbara Mazonkey (Bob), Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Wilkes Barre. Interment will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Muhlenburg.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until mass time at the church.
