James P. (Kinky) Shoemaker

James P. (Kinky) Shoemaker, age 68, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

Born February 18, 1957 in Shickshinny, he was the son of the late Harry Leroy Shoemaker Sr. and Margaret Signa Shoemaker. James had been employed at Rifkin Corp., Hanover Twp. for many years.

Trips to the casino were something that James enjoyed, especially day trips to Atlantic City. He loved to spend time with his family, his dear friends and his beloved pet dog, Rosetta. He was an avid football fan and his favorite team was the New England Patriots.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Wayne Shoemaker, Harry Shoemaker Jr., Elida Dribelbis and Leslie Avery.

Surviving are his loving wife of 20 years the former Rosemarie Margaret Ryan; step children, Bryant Kulish (Denise), North Arlington, N. J., Dwayne Kulish (Kim), Pompton Lakes, N. J., and Melissa Curry, Wilkes Barre; grandchildren, Kayle Kulish, Dwayne Kulish Jr., Emma Kulish, Lyndsay Kulish, Chantelle Wilkins, Yolanda Wilkins, Breanna Wilkins and Tiarra Cooper; brothers and sisters, Sandra Shoemaker (Ronald Bienick), Edwardsville, Shirley Park, Larksville, David Shoemaker, Plymouth, Brian Shoemaker (Wendy), Thomas Shoemaker, Berwick, Philip Shoemaker, Berwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, August 11, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the S. J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, contributions, if desired, may be made to the Luzerne County SPCA, Blue Chip Animal Refuge or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
