In Loving Memory of a Life Well Lived
March 26, 1929 – June 30, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of a truly good man, whose kindness, humility, and work ethic touched all who had the honor of knowing him.

Born on March 26, 1929, to Michael and Anna (Phillips) Fera, Michael ("Mike") Fera, Jr., 96, of Plymouth, lived a life defined by quiet strength, dedication, and love. He spent 35 years working at Golden Quality Ice Cream, where he was known for his reliability and warmth - and he loved a good joke and making people laugh. On weekends, he brought that same warmth to his work as a bartender, offering a friendly face and a listening ear to many. He served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1955 to 1959. His career also included time with Air Products and later as a park police officer at Moon Lake Park, where he loved spending time at the marina with the fishermen or at the campground sharing stories with campers, until his retirement. Mike served on the Luzerne County Planning Commission and was also a strong supporter of the Democratic Party, volunteering his time at the polls in support of his friends running for office.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—gardening, tending to his backyard with great care, and crafting homemade wine to share with friends and family. He believed in hard work, strong family ties, and the value of laughter over a good meal or a cold beer.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Genevieve “Ginks,” his parents Michael and Anna, his brother Eugene Fera and sister-in-law Janice, his sister Phyllis Mond and brother-in-law Joseph Mond, and his grandson-in-law Greg Menzel.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Tina Endress of Kingston and Cheryl Akulonis of Newport Township, and his cherished grandchildren: Robyn Menzel of Royersford, Jennifer (Greg) Bowden of Collegeville, Ryan Kucewicz of Newport Township, and Mikayla Akulonis of Kingston. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Genevieve and Gregory Bowden and Harper and Zoey Wolf. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Bernadine) Fera, brother-in-law Chet (Mary Ann) Mrugal, and sisters-in-law Frances Evans, Mary Hoinski, and Josephine Mrugal, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Those who knew him will remember his quiet generosity, his deep love for family, and the steadfast way he moved through the world—with humility, kindness, and a smile.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at St. John's Church in Larksville. Friends and family are welcome to visit from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.

He will be missed deeply and remembered always. May he rest in peace.
