Henry "Hank” Mertis, age 88, of Plymouth, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 at the Lakewood Nursing Center, Nanticoke.

Born October 5, 1936 in West Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Joseph Mertis and Stella Wilcox Mertis. Hank was a graduate of Plymouth High School. In past years, he had been employed at the Retreat State Hospital, and had been a lead guitarist for the Ronnie Edwards Band from 1984 until 1992. He had been a guitar teacher for Andrea Bagusko for several years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Henry Mertis Jr. and his brother, Herbert Mertis.

Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, the former Elizabeth Casper; grandchildren, Melanie and Joseph; 3 great grandsons; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth. Private interment will take place at Edge Hill Cemetery, West Nanticoke.
