Walter “Skip” Soha

Walter “Skip” Soha, age 93, of Plymouth passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

Born January 2, 1931, in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Joseph Soha and Mary Zola Soha. Walter was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1949, Louisiana Tech College, Ruston, Louisiana and Wilkes College, Wilkes Barre. While in high school, he lettered in football and baseball for the Plymouth Shawnee Indians. In 1947, he was a member of the Plymouth American Legion baseball team that presented Babe Ruth with the Anthracite trophy before the East/West Pennsylvania American Legion All Star game at Shibe Park in Philadelphia.

Walter served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He played baseball for the Selfridge Air Force Base Flyers in Michigan and the Mt Clemens Bathers in the Michigan Royal Oak League.

He was employed by Planters Nut and Chocolate, Wilkes Barre, as a Mid-West Region Sales Director before the buyout of Planters by Standard Brands. He retired as an income maintenance supervisor for the Welfare Department for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Cheponis and Dolores Morgan and brother, Joseph Soha.

Surviving are his brother, Robert Soha and his wife, Phyllis, of Plymouth, and numerous nieces nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Parish, Plymouth. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Nativity Cemetery, Plymouth Twp.

Friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. until Mass time at the church.
