Andrew R. Kovalski, age 65, of Hanover Township, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Born March 11, 1959, in Nanticoke and raised in Hanover Green, he was the son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Zupko) Kovalski.

Andy was a graduate of Hanover Area, Class of 1977.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Geisinger South Wilkes Barre, the former Mercy Hospital, in the Environmental Services Department.

Andy grew up as an altar server in Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Buttonwood, Hanover Township. He is a current member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Wilkes Barre.

Throughout his life, he greatly enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He loved teaching his children, Andy and Jess, how to search for mushrooms, often coming home with a surplus to enjoy. Some of their fondest family memories were made on annual camping trips at Guestward Ho Campground with dear friends.

Andy was a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. As a passionate music lover, he was proud of his extensive record collection. He especially loved going to Rock & Roll Concerts with his loving wife, Nancy.

He was well known for helping his family and friends with his handy work, his great sense of humor and endless stories, and his delicious annual New Year's Eve dinners.

His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family. He will forever be missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, and dear friend Timmy Kolbicka.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Nancy A. Lenio, with whom he shared his life for 48 years; his loving children, Andrew T. Kovalski and his fiancée, Amanda, of Hanover Township, and Jessica Hasan and her husband, Adam, of Laflin; his brother, Edward (Butch) Kovalski and his wife, Rita, of Mountain Top; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral will be held on Monday morning at 9:30 from the S.J.Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00in Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Buttonwood, Hanover Township. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Family and friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 at the funeral home.
