Mary Barbara Weidner, age 83, of Hanover Twp. passed into the hands of the Lord on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

Born April 28, 1941 in Hanover Twp., she was the daughter of the late John Maceiko and Mary Slauzis Maceiko. She was a graduate of Hanover High School, Class of 1958, and was a member of Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Buttonwood Section of Hanover Twp.

Mary was employed by Pioneer Manufacturing, RCA, Mountaintop, and later as a crossing guard for the Hanover Area School District, in the Lyndwood, Breslau Area. She was a longtime member of the Breslau Fire Company #5, Ladies Auxiliary.

Mary received much joy spending time with her granddaughters and was very proud of all of their accomplishments. Her hobbies included gardening and tending to her grapevine. She loved making her famous grape jelly and received many awards over the years at the Luzerne County Fair.

In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with the family dog, “Lex”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Weidner, who passed away on May 26, 2019; and her brother, John (Spike) Maceiko.

Surviving are her loving son, William J. Weidner and his wife, Terri, of Hanover Twp.; granddaughters, Natalie and Jillian Weidner; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 West Main Street, Plymouth, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Buttonwood Section of Hanover Twp. Interment will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Muhlenburg.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.

Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Serenity Care Kingston and Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

In lieu of flowers, contributions, if desired, may be made to Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church Youth Ministry, 420 Main Road, Hanover Twp., Pa 18706, in Mary’s memory.
